Inconel ® / Incoloy ® Fasteners and Components

Inconel ® is a registered trademark referring to a family of austenitic nickel-chromium based super alloys that are well suited for service in extreme environments where subjected to pressure and heat.

Incoloy ® is a registered trademark referring to a family of nickel iron chromium alloy's with additions of molybdenum, copper and titanium (depending on the alloy). Incoloy ® has exceptional resistance to many aggressive corrosion environments such as sulphuric and phosphoric.

 

Typical use applications for Inconel ® include: aerospace components, gas turbines, core nuclear components, as well as specialist rotors, pumps, valves, boilers and heat exchangers where superior levels of heat resistance are required.

Typical use applications of Incoloy ® include: Sulphuric acid piping and vessels, phosphoric acid evaporators, chemical process equipment, power station ash hoppers and highly corrosive OEM equipment such as filtration systems, valves etc.

  • Inconel ® retains strength over a wide temperature range, attractive for high temperature applications where other steels would succumb to creep.

  • Inconel ® high temperature strength is developed by solid solution strengthening or precipitation hardening, depending on the alloy.

  • Inconel ® has a melting point of 2,540°F-2,600°F (1,390°C-1,425°C), although nickel alloys begin to lose their tensile strength before they reach melting point, so it is generally recommended that application temperatures are kept well below these ranges.

  • Inconel ® generally contains over 50% nickel.

  • Incolloy ® varients of material have a diverse range of characteristics, 800H (UNS N08810) with high carbon offers higher creep and rupture properties whilst 800HT has increased temperature range.

  • Incolloy ® generally contains less than 50% nickel.
